Christine Villano, Principal Consultant

Chris Villano has over 30 years of experience and leadership in the field of education. She has worked as an educator in both formal and informal learning environments, urban and rural locations, and grades PreK through Post-Graduate. Her teaching assignments have included the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District, St. Mary’s School District, the University of Alaska, the Farthest North Girl Scout Council, the City of Newark, and the Catholic Diocese of Fairbanks. She is a certified teacher in elementary education and holds a Master’s degree in educational technology. She is extensive training and experience in inquiry-based learning, place-based learning, educational technology, learning styles, and cooperative learning strategies.
She has a deep understanding of the education landscape as a leader in the Fairbanks Education Association, the NEA-Alaska, the Alaska Science Teachers Association, and a variety of curriculum and advisory committees in the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District. Her dedication and excellence in the field of education has earned her the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching, the nation’s highest honors for teachers of mathematics and science, the BP Teacher of the Year Award, and the Imagination Library Champion for Children Award.
Chris has worked on collaborations with professional scientists at the University of Alaska Fairbanks since 2006 on projects funded by the National Science Foundation, the US Department of Agriculture, and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.
